1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy sets out the conditions for the collection and processing of personal data of its visitors / users / members (the Users or You) by the Cyprus Association of Lobbyists and Public Affairs Professionals (the LPAP or We) when visiting and using our website or during their written communication with us.

We receive and process your Personal Data according to the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (the Regulation) and the relevant national legislation, i.e.  the Law on the Protection of Natural Persons Against the Processing of Personal Data and the Free Movement of such Data (N. 125(I)/2018).

For the purposes of the present Privacy Policy, ‘personal data’ means any information relating to you who can identify you, directly or indirectly, such as a name, surname, telephone number, an email address, or the IP address on your computer.

Furthermore, ‘processing of personal data’ means any operation performed on your personal data, whether by automated means or not, such as collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure, or destruction.

3. Personal data collected during your visit on our website

3.1 Personal data collected without you providing it to us

When you visit our website, we collect the Personal Data sent by the browser you use on our server. This Personal Data is necessary for the better presentation of our website from a technical point of view, for security reasons and to for us to be able to improve your browsing experience. Some of the data we collect from our website are the following:

  • 3.1.2 Your Internet Browser, from which you visit our website
  • 3.1.3 The type of your device
  • 3.1.4 The language of communication and your area
  • 3.1.5 The basic elements of the disk from which the connection is made
  • 3.1.6 The IP Address
    The IP address is determined by the connection provider (Internet Provider), through which the user’s PC has access to the Internet, and therefore to the pages of LPAP. The IP address is reserved for technical reasons and for security of LPAP’s systems (server, database, network, etc.) and is used exclusively for the collection of statistics. The user’s IP address may be disclosed, upon request, in accordance with relevant legal procedure, either by the competent police, judicial or other state authorities.
  • 3.1.7 The data collected through Cookies.
    LPAP uses cookies for the smooth operation of its services and pages. Cookies are small .txt files that are sent to each user’s computer hard drive if the user has chosen to accept cookies. Cookies are not used in any case for the recording of personal data of the user nor do they become aware of any document or file from their computer. They are only used to facilitate the user’s access to specific services of LPAP. Indicatively, Cookies are used for the recording of general traffic data and the conduct of surveys to improve the website’s content and its technically sound operation. The users can set their browser in a way that either warns them about the use of cookies in specific services of LPAP or does not allow the use of cookies in general. The reason these technologies are used is to mitigate the risks and prevent any fraud or malware.

3.2 Personal data collected when you provide it to us

  • 3.2.1 Contact form
    We process your Personal Data, ie your name and email address, when you use the contact form in order to be able to process your request or answer your question.
  • 3.2.2 New member registration
    We process your Personal Data, ie your name, surname and email address, when you wish to register as a new member so that we can contact you and provide you with more information.

3.3 Your personal data are not disclosed to any third parties

The Personal Data declared above, are not disclosed to third parties and in no way are made public or exploited. This information is used only to the extent deemed necessary for the:

  • 3.3.1 provision of information to its members,
  • 3.3.2 communication with its members,
  • 3.3.3 selection of content offered to users so that it is relevant to their general preferences,
  • 3.3.4 smooth operation of the website.

3.4 How long we keep your Personal Data

The Personal Data we collect through our website are only kept for the period that is deemed necessary for the fulfillment of the purpose for which they were collected and in any case this period will not exceed five years. Regarding the Personal Data we collect through our website, you retain the rights listed below.

4. Your rights according to the Regulation

4.1 Right of access to your Personal Data (Article 15)
You can receive free information and / or copies of the personal data we hold concerning you.

4.2 Right to correct your Personal Data (Article 16)
You can request at any time to correct or fill in your Data.

4.3 Right of deletion or Right to be forgotten (Article 17)
You can request that we delete the data concerning you. However, we reserve the right to refuse deletion when such processing is necessary to comply with our legal obligations, for public interest reasons and / or legal claims.

4.4. Right to restrict the processing of your Personal Data (Article 18)
You may ask us to restrict the processing of your data when you question its accuracy, the legality of processing and / or because it is not necessary for the purposes of the processing for which it was collected for and / or when you have already objected to us processing your Data in accordance with Article 21 (see below) and await our position as to the legitimate reasons prevailing your opposition.

4.5 Right to Personal Data portability (Article 20)
You can obtain your data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable form, in order to transfer it to other organizations / companies or you can ask us to do so directly.

4.6 Right of objection (Article 21)
You may object at any time to the processing of your Personal Data when it is based on the legal or public interest (Article 6 (1) (e) and (f) of the Regulation) on grounds relating to your particular situation. In such a case, we will no longer process your Personal Data unless there are a compelling and legitimate reasons for processing that overrides your interests, rights and freedoms or if the processing serves to establish, exercise or defense of legal claims. You may at any time object to the processing of your Personal Data for purposes related to direct marketing or profiling purposes.

4.7 Automated individual decision-making, including profiling (Article 22)
LPAP does not make automated decisions, nor does it use Personal Data for automatic profiling.

4.8 Right to withdraw your consent
You have the right to withdraw your consent to the processing of your Personal Data at any time. In such case, the processing that preceded the withdrawal of your consent will not be affected and will be considered completely legal.

4.9 Right not to provide your Personal Data
There is no obligation to provide your personal data. However, in order to be able to respond to your request via the Contact form, send you updates and / or information, or become a member, you must provide us with your Personal Data to the extent necessary for the above purposes. Without this Data, we will not be able to answer or provide any of the above.

Please note that the above rights are based on their respective restrictions laid down in the Regulation.

5. Links to other websites

LPAP includes links to other websites, which are not controlled by LPAP but by their respective owners, either natural or legal persons. Under no circumstances will LPAP be responsible for the Privacy Policy of other websites its users follow.

6. Ways of exercising your rights and the right to lodge a complaint with the Commissioner of Personal Data Protection

If you wish to exercise any of the above rights or if you have any questions regarding the processing of your Personal Data or if you wish to make a complaint, do not hesitate to contact us at contact@lpap.cy.

In any case, you reserve the right to lodge a complaint with the Commissioner of Personal Data Protection. Information on how to file a complaint can be found on the relevant website at http://www.dataprotection.gov.cy or via email at commissioner@dataprotection.gov.cy.

7. Applicable Law

The processing and protection of the personal data of LPAP’s users is subject to the terms of this Privacy Policy and the relevant provisions of the Cypriot legislation and European law regarding the protection of personal data. In this context, any issuance or amendment of the laws and / or regulations shall be considered as an amendment hereof.

8. Changes or modifications to the Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy was published on 01/08/2021. LPAP reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy from time to time. In such case, a revised Privacy Policy will be posted on this website.
